In Fantasy Football Week 2, there are definitely a few wide receivers that will be challenged by opposing secondaries. Here are two wide receivers that aren’t making the top of our Week 2 projections.

Randy Moss, New England Patriots at New York Jets

Randy Moss had a great season last year, essentially finishing the year as the second most productive wide receiver in the NFL. In 2010, Moss enters the season a year older and money-hungry. Those are two opposing-influences, but we expect the money to win out. That said, Moss can’t fight off age every week, and against Darrelle Revis of the New York Jets, age will likely do him harm. Revis is young, athletic, and most importantly, he’s faster than Randy Moss is at this stage in his career. Can Moss still get the better of Revis on any given play? Of course, which is why you shouldn’t bench him Fantasy Football Week 2. However, do lower your expectations, because Revis should be ready to go after shaking off some rust in Week 1.

Hines Ward, Pittsburgh Steelers at Tennessee Titans

Speaking of age, Hines Ward is getting up there too! And while he won’t be facing the likes of Darrelle Revis, there was a time just two seasons ago when Courtland Finnegan was considered the better cornerback. Finnegan could come out and put the clamps on Hines Ward, and with Dennis Dixon throwing him the ball, who knows if Ward will even have a decent chance at success. I have no way of knowing Ward’s individual importance to your particular fantasy football team, but if I were you, I wouldn’t put him in the lineup if I have even two remotely capable wide receivers to start in Week 2.
