Now entering Week 15 of the NFL season, and with your fantasy status on the line, it is very imperative to get your quarterback situation right. Hopefully, if you have made it this far, you have a no-brainer starting quarterback, and in that case, you probably have a hard choice to make. However, if you are fortunate enough to have two top quarterbacks, or if you’re playing in a salary cap league, then you do need to know the quarterback match-up hierarchy in fantasy football for Week 15.
1. Tom Brady, New England Patriots vs. New York Jets – Something tells me that the Jets are going to step up this game and make this more of a contest than most people think. Nevertheless, I will ignore my intuition and go with reality. Tom Brady and the Patriots are going to, excuse the terminology, rape and pillage the New York Jets- especially their defense. Obviously, the Jets are the franchise that is partially responsible for the “Videogate” scandal, and clearly, Tom Brady will want to avenge his coach and “defend his honor.” I do not think the Jets defense will make it out of this game alive, because Brady and that arsenal of weapons he has are going to pummel the Jets defenders.
2. Derek Anderson, Cleveland Browns vs. Buffalo Bills – Derek Anderson continues to look like a top 10 quarterback in the league, and I do not expect that to change with a game against the Buffalo Bills in Week 15. Several quarterbacks have had their way with the Bills secondary, including the aforementioned Tom Brady. Derek Anderson has shown the ability to get the ball down the field with precision while staying calm in the pocket, and if you can do that as a quarterback in the NFL, then you are going to be successful. The Bills are probably going to bring the blitz to put pressure on Anderson, but his poise will prove to be too much for the under matched Buffalo Bills secondary.
3. Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts vs. Oakland Raiders – Peyton Manning against the woeful Raiders makes for a great passing performance from one Mr. Peyton Manning. Even with Marvin Harrison out, Manning has managed to maintain the prestige of the Colts passing game. On the side of the ball, the Raiders defense is not what it was last year, and they continue to be gutted again and again. Expect Manning to put this game away early with a big first half, and maybe a drive or two in the 3rd quarter, resulting in at least a 3-touchdown day performance.
4. Matt Hasselback, Seattle Seahawks vs. Carolina Panthers – The Panthers defense seems to have mailed it in at this point, and Hasselback will take advantage of that. Expect the Seahawks to continue throwing the ball at a high rate, and that will result in some inflated passing numbers against a pride-less Panthers defense.
