My Three Bold Fantasy Football Predictions

There are a lot of things that are sure to happen this NFL season and in fantasy football, and as with most of them, we won’t see any of them coming.

However, there are those things that are almost inevitably going to happen, and that’s what I’m here to shed a little light on. So as the start of the fantasy football season begins, here are my 3 Bold Fantasy Predictions:

Adrian Peterson will not be a top five running back this season.
I know, I know. I ranked Adrian Peterson as the #5 fantasy running back this season, so maybe I’m reneging a little bit, but he will only finish #5 in a perfect world. I just don’t think that the Minnesota Vikings world will be all peaches and cream in 2008. I know the Vikings are the sexy pick this season and I do expect them to have success, but not the type of success that will benefit Adrian Peterson’s run at the fantasy football throne. Defenses are really going to key in on him, and now they don’t have to worry about scheming up some plan because they have already seen team’s stop him. Last year, several teams did a great job of stopping Adrian Peterson in the last 4 games of season, especially the Green Bay Packers. Therefore, the blueprint is there, and anyone who watches the NFL knows that this is a copycat league.

Tom Brady will finish with the most fantasy football points.
Brady may have had a record-breaking season that would be hard to repeat in most years; however, given that everyone but Donte Stallworth is back, I have to say that Brady won’t stray far from the production he had in 2007. I highly doubt he’ll throw another 50 touchdown passes, but 35 is the minimum, and 40 touchdowns are not out of the question. Everyone says that defenses will key in on Randy Moss, but what exactly were they keying in on last year? Ben Watson? Please! Defenses can key in on Randy Moss all they want, he’ll still be faster than everyone else, and Wes Welker will still be open when they double Moss. Consequently, Brady will be this year’s most productive fantasy football player…but does that make him the best pick of the draft?

LaDainian Tomlinson is still the #1 Pick in Fantasy Football.
Don’t count out LT just yet. You see, there is difference between scoring the most fantasy football points and being the most valuable player in fantasy football. Being the most valuable player means that you score significantly more points than your peers, which for LT would be other running backs. Tom Brady is probably going to score many more points than the 2nd best quarterback this season, but the majority of that is going to come in three or four games. LT is going to outscore the average running back by a lot, except his points will be significantly higher than the next running back every single week, giving you an edge you can depend on all season. Don’t get me wrong, the difference in value between LaDainian Tomlinson and Tom Brady is not vast, but it’s just enough for me to give LT an edge and make him my #1 overall first pick in fantasy football drafts.
