Well, those of you in a 2-week per round playoff format may be headed for the playoffs this week, so it is a must that you get your quarterback projections right for Week 12 of the fantasy football season.
Here are our quarterback projections for Week 12:
Tony Romo, Dallas Cowboys vs. Oakland Raiders
The Cowboys have such good fortune. They will be the only game on the docket when they square off against the hapless Oakland Raiders, once again leading the entire nation to believe they are a little bit better than we believe. While that may not be good for the national perception of the Cowboys, it will be great for your fantasy football team. Tony Romo should have no problem doing whatever he wants against a defense that gives up everything. The Raiders are the 24th best defensive team in the NFL, and it they aren’t getting any better. A few big pass plays to Miles Austin and Roy Williams are certainly in order for Week 12.
Carson Palmer, Cincinnati Bengals vs. Cleveland Browns
As of now, I’m not really on the Carson Palmer bandwagon when it comes to fantasy football. However, in fantasy football Week 12, he is playing the Cleveland Browns, the worst defensive team in football. Needless to say, Palmer and the entire Bengals offense will have loads of success against this underachieving, hapless, disorganized defense. So while Palmer hasn’t been the best fantasy option during the 2009 fantasy football season, there is plenty of reason to believe in him this week. And with Cedric Benson still nursing a hip injury, and the Browns giving up 7.8 yards per pass this season, it seems obvious that attacking the Browns on through the air is the Bengals best bet to destroy to the Browns.
Peyton Manning, Indianapolis Colts at Houston Texans
There’s no need to worry about Manning, not even against a Texans team that did a decent job against him a couple of weeks ago. Manning should have plenty of success against the Texans, which happen to boast no more than a mediocre (17th ranked) pass defense. Besides, it’s pretty hard to defend Manning when he is allowed to stand up-right in the pocket for most of the game, and that’s what you can expect in a game featuring a Texans defense that had just 13 sacks entering Week 11. Therefore, I like Manning to have a much better game in his second matchup against the Texans. Anything less than 300 yards passing and 2 touchdowns would utterly surprise me.
Drew Brees, New Orleans Saints vs. New England Patriots
That’s right! I’m picking Brees over Brady in this Week 12 fantasy football showdown. Forget about who is going to win this game! This about who is going to win this past summer’s most heated debated: Brady for Brees. The overall consensus, by virtue of average draft position, gave the nod to Brees, but so far, Brady has had the slightly better season in terms of fantasy points. But in Week 12, I like Brees to reclaim his position and have a field day with the Patriots defense, much in the same way that Manning did in the 2nd half against the Patriots a couple of weeks ago. You don’t think Brees will go over game tape of that collapse by the Patriots defense? Well, think again! Brees is going to dissect the Patriots defense this week, and the fantasy points will be there to prove it.
